The J.E.B. Stuart Birthplace Trust conducted a ground-breaking ceremony for the new activity pavilion at Laurel Hill Aug. 18. The new pavilion, located near the entrance, will be 36'x24' and will be used for special activities, lectures and receptions. It has been made possible by donations of members and supporters. The contractor is Doe Run Builders and grading is being done by Leroy Pack Grading, both of Ararat. Participating in the ground-breaking are (left to right): Ronnie Hayes, vice president; Roger Hayden, board member; Vladimir Moreno, Wade Bowman and Grant Bowman of Doe Run Builders; Tom Bishop, board member; Shirley Keene, president; and Cyndi Vipperman, board member. Leroy Pack is pictured on the bulldozer.
